About Us

 Our Mission

We provide our clients with affordable boarding and educational opportunities that will allow them explore the wonderful world of horses -- ownership, care and management, and riding.

 Our History

Krista's Boarding Stable has strived to provide horse owners and enthusiasts with friendly and community-oriented facility to care for their horses since 2002.

In 2003, Krista's Boarding Stable began to offer lessons to beginning riders with the acquisition of Shasta, our first lesson horse. Shasta was instrumental to the foundation of the riding program. Shasta passed away after a colic episode in 2007. Since then, our school horses include Jesse, a senior grade horse, and Foxy, a 6-year-old quarter horse owned by Audrey and Brittney Green, who have generously allowed us to use her in our lesson program.

Our Staff

Krista Christian, Owner, Manager, Instructor

Krista Christian has been a horse lover and equestrian for over 42 years. She has participated in many disciplines including Western Pleasure, Trail, English Pleasure, Hunter/Jumper, Dressage, Arabian Costume, Gymkhana, and Competitive Trail. After taking a 10-year hiatus from horses while living in the San Francisco Bay Area, she moved to the Sacramento area to reconnect with her childhood interest. Recently, her formal training consists mostly of dressage basics, which heavily influences her teaching of both western and english disciplines. Dressage means "training" in French, which embodies Krista's teaching philosophy for both horse and rider. Through correct training basics, horses, regardless of discipline, can improve their gaits, balance, flexibilty, toplines and physique. Riders can develop their body control, rhythm, posture, flexability, spinal alignment, balance, and awareness of correct body position and use of the aids.

She has previously been a member of the
California State Horsemen's Association and the Sacramento Horsemen's Association and is currently a member of the California Dressage Society and the Certified Horsemanship Association. She is also on the board of the Foothills Chapter of CDS. Krista is currently a Level 3 CHA-certified instructor and has held a prior certification with the American Association of Horsemenship Safety and prescribes to the Secure Seat Teaching Method  that can be applied to all riding disciplines. Her lessons focus on developing a secure seat, safety, control, and basic dressage principles. She rarely passes up an opportunity to enhance her own knowledge on horsemanship, horse care, training, riding, and teaching. She regularly takes lessons, attends clinics, and researches books and periodicals on all facets of riding, teaching, and horse care.
